The Magic Pair of Shoes
The Left is blue and the Right is Red
This one’s light and that weighs lead
It’s warm this side and cool on the other
The left fits snug while the right is a bother
One bleeds color while the other definitely stays
This withstands stress but that frequently frays
If left says Yes then right says No
If left says Stay then right says Go
Left runs after Right or Right runs last
No one knows for they both run fast
They walk diverse distances
And bear separate weights
But no one knows how
They always walk straight
If the top looks old, then the sole is fresh
If they appear new, you better check the tread
You can’t guess their age
As you never can for Gold
For they never tire nor sleep
And you never catch them fold
As you must now realize
These unique shoes are wed
Knotted down with strongest laces
And entwined until dead
They took seven tottering steps
At the beginning of their journey
And promised each other infinite strides
Till the very end of eternity
Shower them with sincerity
And drizzle some compromise
This magic pair will last forever
Because true love never dies
