As I stood in the line for the bell to ring and the kids to clammer through the open doors of the elementary school, I saw my little one interact with others her age. Today was Madison's birthday. She was wearing a red dress, with pink Tinker Bell sunglasses, her curly hair done up beautifully. She held a yellow and black umbrella which sported Smileys all over. She announced that they had PE today so she had worn shorts under her dress. She picked up her red dress and showed her blue shorts under it. Other friends surrounding Madison, took turns picking up her dress to see if her shorts were real. Aparna joined in. Jude Jabai joined in and finally Justin B joined in one last time to take a look at Madisson's shorts! I could not contain my laughter. Madison is 6 today. Aparna will be 6 in a month from now. Jude will be 6 in April and I dont know about Justin, but he is also in Kindergarten. I looked at their smiles. Nature was unfailingly at work -- they had all started to lose their front teeth.
